PRACTICE 4B Teachers adjust their talk, the task, or the materials according to learner responses.

As a lesson unfolds, if teachers notice some confusion or misunderstanding, they make adjustments so that all learners can meet the learning goals. Teachers may vary their oral language input to ease the comprehension load. They may help learners gain access to content through the use of other forms of input, such as videos, translations, alternative texts, visual aids, and peer support. They might also adapt a task midstream, by adding more time, providing supplemental resources, or pulling a small group of learners together for reteaching while the rest of the class works independently. Flipped learning methods also allow for greater adjustments and differentiated instruction.
